As you probably noticed, I didn’t post the past 5 days. I’ll be completely honest and say some days I failed altogether to spend intentional time in prayer but some days I did make the time.
Yesterday, I was driving down the road and was praying and asking God to please help me find the time and stick with it.
He spoke to me sweetly but firmly and said, “You have the time. You just fill it with anything but Me.”
My heart dropped. I knew He was right. (He’s God, duh)
So that led to some interesting conversation with Him and more prayer into today.
I have the time. You have the time. We just don’t give it to Him. We fill it with reading, music, social media, and anything else that can keep us from talking to our Lord.
Today, on my way to school (for the last time this semester 🙌🏻) I prayed very intentionally about my prayer life and made one small step towards my goal. In the car, I’ll pray. I spend a large part of my day driving. To work. Back home. To school. And so on. Over and over. So I made the choice to pray in the car. I might play worship music, but I will sing it to my Lord! I feel good about this decision.
I also have continued to surrender these desires of my heart to Him daily. As I was giving these to Him this morning, He put a word in my heart that will be my word for 2019.
Cultivate means to acquire or develop.
My church has started a women’s fellowship meeting called Cultivate, but I’ve noticed that I need to cultivate many things in my life for 2019.
My relationship with God, firstly. I need to cultivate that into what it can be. I need to speak to Him and learn about Him and love Him.
My relationship with Joe. We’re getting married in 4 short months! We need to cultivate our relationship to keep it centered on God and each other.
My family and friends. Those relationships need to be cultivated to be glorifying to God and to life Him up.
My job. I need to cultivate my view of my job to know that God gave it to me to glorify Him in some way.
My education. God has blessed me with my education in ways that are incredible. I need to cultivate that to glorify Him in all ways.
What I’m most excited about, is cultivating fellowship and community with other women in the community. I feel a strong desire for this and want God to use that desire for His glory.
As you can see, I have a lot to cultivate in 2019 and I can’t wait to get started. I plan to use this blog to share my journey and I’m hoping and praying you will share yours, too.
What do YOU need to cultivate in the upcoming year?
