I’ve read so many books this semester and they’ve all been so good! This is the first book I read.
It’s about Starr, a black girl, whose friend Khalil was shot by a cop when he was unarmed. It’s super interesting and really draws you in. It totally gives you a different on the whole issue and really shows it from their eyes.
Some downfalls I’ve read from other people is that they think it’s too stereotypical. But the writer is black herself and it reflected her life, I believe, so I think it was very appropriate for the book.
It’s a super important book for Young Adults that deals with racism, conflict, speaking up, and finding your voice. It’s essential for your library!
*it does have bad language throughout, so maybe keep it in a mature section.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back with more books!
